Life after College- A month in a half later

5/20/2006- High School Graduation! Mood: Excited. Just finished high school and next journey is college. But what no one really tells you while you are getting ready to make a big step of getting your Bachelor's Degree is that you are NOT guaranteed a JOB once you graduate. It has really been hard knowing that I have taken the big step into furthering my education for 5 years and knowing that my B.S. Degree really stands for Bull Shit.

Its crazy how the people who I grew up and started off to college with all dropped out and now they have jobs but here I am, the one who stuck with it the entire time can't even get a job. REALLY?! You would think when you fill out applications and they ask "What is your highest level of education?" and the person with the high school diploma can get the job over someone who has a Bachelor's Degree. I guess we are just like soldiers, how they have fought for their country and not always guaranteed things once they get out either. But excuse me I forgot we live in a microwave world now, where everyone is looking for experience and is not willing to train anyone. Well I'm sorry but the reason I don't have the experience is because I decided to go to college for 5 years to get what I thought was a big deal a "College Degree".

I have been putting in applications since the beginning of April and here it is almost the end of June and I have yet to get a job. I can see if I was a couch potato where people would ask me if I have been applying for jobs  and I lie and say yeah knowing that I really wasn't, but is not the case here. I am tired of being broke! I am tired of depending on my mom when I am 23 and ready to be on my OWN. I have a plan and dammit I am ready to put it in action.

Now if I knew what I know now, I probably would not have chose to be a Music major. I saw a article on the "Top 20 majors to least find a job" and guess what number Music was 20!!
I just thought that whatever you major in suppose to be something you enjoyed but clearly not these days. No you must major in whatever is going to give you more chances in having a job once you graduate. I wish I would have majored in Communications and minored in Music. Maybe I could have been at somebody news station or something.

My Pastor some weeks ago preached a sermon titled,"Waiting". Waiting on the Lord, because he actually holds the master plan for my life. He may not come when you want him, but he's always right on time. My patience is very thin, but I am working on it and putting my trust in God that he will work it out. He has brought me this far and I just don't believe he's going to leave me.

Pretty Willie aka PDUB - Christian Singer?

So the other day at my EMI internship, I was sitting at my desk when all of a sudden I heard "Lay Your Body Down" - by Pretty Willie. Now im singing this song in my head and wondering why is this song being played in a Gospel music label office. So I asked the guy that was playing the song, "Did he make that a Gospel song?". So the guy, Jarrett, said yeah kind of, Pretty Willie calls it KINGDOM MUSIC. *SIDE EYE* # Really?  How do you make a sex song into a gospel song?

So I went online to see could I find it so I could hear the revised version. Went on MySpace and the music on his page seem like R&B/Hip Hop songs that he tried to put some Gospel lyrics to. Like he use the 5 Star Chick music and changed the words. If you are going to be a Christian singer, how do you use songs that reminds you of Hip Hop/ Sex songs, if you are trying to change your image or even try to bring some one to Christ. I'm but the first thing I thought about when I heard "Lay Your Body Down" was ooohh, I use love this and I use to have relations to this song. When you hear a song it usually reminds you of something that happen to you or even someone else. So if I listen to a Gospel/ Christian song it should not remind me of the times I had sex. #CUTITOUT Pretty Wille. Go be original and make new songs!
